My warm up for Buddy (7 year old OTT Paint Horse) is mostly transitions. throwing in some backing. Buddy is heavy on the forehand and slow to come down when asked. So, warming up with transitions gets a double - warm up and remind him that a downward transitions are not optional. Buddy is a good boy. I don't lunge much unless he is snorty in a new place.
